TONY CIRIELLO: 2020 Government Excellence Award

Monday, March 8, 2021

This year’s recipient, Tony Ciriello, is a very dedicated local elected official. He is committed to our community and is always willing to help those who need him.

As a former police chief and being involved with law enforcement, he has played a very instrumental role in promoting strong relationships with local businesses. This has been vital for the success of our community.

Additionally, Tony served as a moderator for the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy for 25 years. The success of our youth and future leaders is an important aspect for growth in our community and he has been an active supporter of that. He also previously engaged with Kosciusko County’s youth as a DARE officer and received the DARE Officer of the Year award in 1998.

At a state level, our Government Excellence award recipient was appointed by Governor Mike Pence as a

member of the Public Safety Committee for four years. Tony was also instrumental in establishing the Indiana Coroner Training Board, and has been a member since 1999. In 2015, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest distinction awarded by the Governor of Indiana.

Locally, some of his many accomplishments include formerly serving as the President of the Beaman Home, President of the Syracuse-Wawasee Rotary Club and President of the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Kosciusko County Intervention Team, and since 2015, he has held the position of Kosciusko County Coroner.

One nominator said, “as a funeral director, I have always been impressed with the care and compassion he shows to the loved ones of those who have passed away. He has handled his position very professionally and has represented our area well.”

Please join us in congratulating to our 2020 Government Excellence Award recipient, Tony Ciriello. Thank you, Tony, for your years of services to Kosciusko County. This award is sponsored by Zimmer Biomet.
